Lemon Drop by Tie Dye Diva- a pattern test

Miss G and I recently had the opportunity to test another pattern for our good friend Jen of Tie Dye Diva.  If you *STILL* haven’t tried any of her patterns, well, you’re missing out!  They are well-written, creative, and contain some great techniques!

Of course, this new pattern is no different!  The Lemon Drop is just absolutely adorable- no other words can describe it!

This dress goes together very quickly, even with the professional finishing techniques Jen teaches in the pattern instructions!

Oh, and options?

It’s got options!

You like ruffles?  Add one- there’s pattern pieces for that!  Prefer no ruffles?  Sure- there’s pieces for that too!

You want a dress?  No problem!  You’d rather have a tunic?  Yup, that’s an option too.

You really like the ease of snaps?  Go for it- placement and instructions included!  You really like the classic look of buttons?  Go right ahead- placement diagrams for buttons included as well!

Pockets?  Who doesn’t love treasures!!

No pockets?  Sometimes we’d rather not wash the crayons, rocks, and Legos that wind up in there!

One of my personal favorite things about this pattern is that it’s an amazing scrap busting project!  Miss G is turning into quite the skinny minnie, and she took the size 2T bodice (as per the suggestion in the pattern- don’t forget to read it through before sewing!) with the 3T straps and length.  I was able to grab some scraps from my new scrap basket (tutorial coming soon for that!), find a yard of fabric to match, and voila!  And the tunic length was even less than a yard!  Can’t beat that!

How cute does this tunic look with a pair of skinny jeans and boots?  I can only picture it with some knit ruffle shorts for summer (but brrrr, too cold here still to even think about that yet)!  Try it with a pair of Tie Dye Diva Sterling Shorties– they sew up so quick and even if you’ve never sewn with knits before, they are a perfect beginner pattern!

Lemon Drop will be on sale from today through Thursday, March 23rd for only $7.50.  Don’t forget to check out the dolly versions as well (also on sale!)!!

We have been busy here and have lots more pattern tests to share with you over the next few days, so be sure to check back often!

Bye for now from me and Miss G!
